Migrantes - Emigrants - Emigranti
|

From 1870 till 1970 a lot of Italians emigrated to the so called "New World", the Americas and later Australia... they were poor and they dreamed to become rich... somebody realized their dreams, most of them not... anyway, this emigrants helped a lot our country to become what we are now... but you know, when things go well, everybody tries to forget from where they come from... since the middle of the 80's in Italy arrived an increasingly number of immigrants from Africa, Asia and East Europe with the same dreams that Italian emigrants had some decades before... and now in Italy, many people complain about immigrants, refuse to give them a home but they give them very often a bad paied and not regular job... these "wood sculptures" shows pretty well the essentiality of the emigrants' conditions... poor, naked and with a little bag that contained everything they owned...
Dal 1870 al 1970 molti italiani emigrarono nel cosidetto Nuovo Mondo, le Americhe e più tardi l'Australia... erano poveri e sognavano di diventare ricchi... qualcuno ce l'ha fatta, la maggior parte no... comunque furono molto importanti per l'aiuto che diedero al nostro paese a diventare com'è ora... però, quancdo le cose vanno bene, si tende a dimenticare da dove veniamo... dalla metà degli anni '80 in Italia ha cominciato ad arrivare un numero crescente di immigrati dall'Africa, dall'Asia e dall'Est europeo con gli stessi sogni che avevano gli immigrati italiani qualche decennio prima... e adesso in Italia molta gente si lamenta degli immigrati, si rifiutano di dare loro una casa, ma gli danno molto volentieri un lavoro irregolare e mal pagato... queste "sculture di legno" riassumono efficacemente la condizione dell'immigrato... povero, nudo e con una piccola valigia che contiene tutto quello che possiedono...
